Steps to Writing Wedding Vows

Talk to anyone who has gone through the experience of writing their own wedding vows and they will surprisingly tell you they found it fairly simple to do. It can be as long as you write from your heart and express your feelings and emotions in a clear, easy to understand way. Researching other wedding vows for inspiration can be a quick task, but the bulk of your time will be spent actually putting your thought down on paper. The following can help you write your wedding vows.

Talk to Your Partner

Before you even start writing your wedding vows, you need to talk this idea over with your partner in order to make sure he or she is on board with it. There may be a chance he or she would rather recite traditional wedding vows or those already written by someone else. If this is the case, you should still use this opportunity to communicate your reasons for wanting to write your own vows, but you should only do so if you both agree to do it.

Forming the Content

Out of the entire wedding vow writing process, forming the actual content is probably the most difficult for many couples. This is usually true because there are quite a few samples to take inspiration from. But you need to keep in mind that your wedding vows should come straight from the heart.

Start Early and Edit

The earlier you start writing your own wedding vows, the better off you will be. Not only will starting early relieve the pressure of this task, but also will allow you plenty of time to edit.  Editing should be done multiple times, taking place several weeks before your wedding ceremony is scheduled in order to perfect the final product.
