Wedding Vows: Traditional or Writing your own?

When it comes to wedding vows there are many different opinions on whether traditional or writing your own is better. The truth is that no one is any better than the other, it’s just a matter of preference.

If you tend to be a more traditional type of person, or if you just feel a little more comfortable with the traditional vows, then that might be the way to go for you. One thing to consider about the more traditional vows is that they are tried and true. They include pretty much everything  you would want to say to your other half, and have been used throughout the years.

Many couples are more comfortable with this type of vow, because they do not need to worry about getting nervous and forgetting what they are suppose to  say. The person that officiates the wedding with talk them through their vows, and tell them what to say and when.

If you are looking for something a little different and more personal for your wedding vows, then writing your own could be the solution. Writing your own vows are a great way to express your love in your own personal way. Hearing your spouse-to-be say vows that they have written for you can be a very special experience. Also, if you write your own vows, you can be sure that no one else as ever used those vows, and that they are unique. Whether you are creative or not, the only requirement you must meet to be able to write you own vows is that you need to speak from your heart.

So there is no right or wrong way to say your vows. Whether you choose traditional vows or you write your own, it’s your choice - just do what is right for you, and don‘t let anyone else make up your mind for you.
